Goals

Problem statement:

Georgian cinema produced high quality films in the Soviet times. Our film production has been in decline in recent decades but we are showing a slow recovery and Georgian films are having success at international festivals. Georgian films are more based on ethusiasm and passion rather than money as our film production is more cost effective.

I think Georgian film production has a high potential. I know lots of youth in Georgia who could become good film makers or videographers, if they had an opportunity and equipment to do that. I'm one of them: I like to show reality in my work, I love film shooting and the atmosphere that my films are making. But the film production lasts for months as I cannot always get the equipment for shooting.
I know many young people in Rustavi who like film shooting and arts. But we need a common space where those creative film makers could gather, use the equipment and produce videos which will benefit our community.

How will your initiative achieve/contribute to this change?

I believe that I'm in that age when passion for work is at its peak. I love cinematography and I've been producing films since I am 15. If my project gets approved, Il'll buy equipment needed for video production (listed below) and we will use other devices our group has to create a full set for the production. The members of the team will use the equipment and anybody with right skills can borrow, as long as they cover the maintenance costs. Im a creator of a young cinematograph's team Young Creators. We have several years of experience in film making and our film was shown at a French film festival. We will hold workshops for Rustavi youth teaching how to use video cameras and accessories, basics of video editing, so that others will also learn. We will have weekly workshop in American Corner and I hope that Rustavi Mayor will also let us use their small hall for such meetings. We will use facebook ads to announce about the opportunity. How will Rustavi benefit? - Opportunity for any youth in Rustavi to join workshops on filmography; learn basic of film production. - Production of a few videos on the needs of Rustavi, its people and New Year - our team will produce them. As new year is coming, we will produce a video how Rustavi is preparing for the new year, holiday spirit which will make Rustavi people even more happier - spread positive vibes around. Our recent video about Rustavi was shown on Rustavi Mayor' office screen for a week and it had 20,000 views on Facebook. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diK0sDWqT-g&t=8s In spring assuming we will have enough videos to show, we will hold an event showing the work of young Rustavi filmmakers.

What will happen to your initiative and to the purchases?

On behalf of Young Creators, I take responsibility for the maintenance of the equipment. The project is long term and will be taken care of. Those people who will borrow the equipment will be legally responsible for their maintenance and pay the costs.

How will initiative provide equal opportunity for men and women?

Both girls and boys can join the workshop and borrow the equipment. No restrictions on gender and all Rustavi regardless of gender will benefit.
