Goals

Problem statement:

Cultural and educational events are less accessible for people from mountainous villages, which impede the development of such villages and youth. The village Gombori is in the mountainous zone where this problem is quite acute. The Gombori School Civic Club is actively involved in various activities and projects, though it is not enough. Youths in the village have a desire to make positive changes in the life of the community. One of the non-governmental organizations has provided computers, but there is no youth space where youth can gather, plan and implement cultural projects and community activities. In the village there are no art clubs (dancing, singing, drawing, photography), the survey revealed that one of the main problems for youth is the absence of those clubs. Youth space will give youth the opportunity to get interested in forming different clubs in the direction of art.

How will your initiative achieve/contribute to this change?

Village Gombori School Civic Club "Pandora" will organize a meeting with village youth. The youth interested in the topic will form the initiative group together with the members of the civil club. Volunteers will share the responsibilities for the youth space. At the first stage, the room provided by the local self-government will be cleaned and prepared for renovation. The civic club has found the workers in the village who agreed to help youth to repair and renovate the space. After the renovations the room will be equipped with appropriate furniture and appliances. Youth will regularly conduct a survey in order to find out interesting topics for the public and invite competent people twice a month to conduct a seminar on the topic and give people interesting information and useful tips. Also, as a result of the survey, members of the Club will find the relevant problems and needs of the community, and then plan and implement topic oriented projects. Youth will create art clubs: dancing, singing, drawing and photography. Using a computer and a projector, the members of the club will share each knowledge with each other about various arts. People who are successful in these fields (arts) will be invited twice a month for the master class. Youth space is also needed for deepening cultural ties. Gumbour is a multicultural, multi-ethnic village, about 48% of the population is Azerbaijan, and obviously the youth space is a good way to get these two ethnic groups together. Azeri and Georgian youth will share and get acquainted with each other's culture, all of this will help to create a society that is tolerant and dedicated for the future development.

What will happen to your initiative and to the purchases?

The purchased items will be owned by the youth of the community. Through the purchased inventory, the Youth Club continues to work on the topic for youth, the issues relevant to youth and facilitates the development of educated, developed future generations. Volunteer youth are composed of a group that will monitor and use items and equipment without damaging it. There will also be a duty on cleaning the youth space among volunteers of the club.
