Goals

Problem statement:

The main problem that we aim to solve within the frame of the project is lack of youth space in our city. Older pupils have quite a lot of free time and innovative ideas and in order to implement them only a well-arranged social space with basic equipment is needed. Teenagers spend plenty of time meaninglessly whereas extracurricular education and activities are important for their personal and career development in the future.

How will your initiative achieve/contribute to this change?

In order to bring about changes we would like to make a so-called "Fancy" space in the vicinity of the public school where youth, schoolchildren and members of the neighboring community will be able to hold different activities relevant for their interests (competition, concert, exhibition, sports activities, festival, conference, etc.), also just recreation or studying in the open air, according to the season. The internal yard of public school #24 of Rustavi is the best place to create such a space. With the initiative of the school self-government we cleaned this yard and planted greenery there, but the yard needs renovating, some upgrading, equipping with garden chairs and tables, outdoor lighting and decorative sand trails. It would be good if we manage to purchase a small mobile stage within the frame of the project in order to hold events, we will also need sound enhancement equipment, which is not possible to do with the school funds. The school always tries to support the initiative of the pupils and we use the equipment that the school already has in the projects organised by the school self-governance, so we do not need to purchase it within the scope of the project. (The projector, screen, photo camera) In case we manage to implement this project, we plan to hold different activities in this space at least once a month and we can even present this program if required. The social space arranged in the open air can be the best opportunity and a precedent in our city. The space can be used not only by the pupils (up to 1200 pupils) teachers and parents but also the residents living in the vicinity (on the basis of prior agreement). We will introduce a volunteering culture among the pupils, in the process of arranging the space as well as in terms of involvement in further activities. We are ready to voluntarily carry out all the activities needed to implement the project with our own resources and with the help of our friends.

What will happen to your initiative and to the purchases?

The school self-governance will take the responsibility to take care and maintain the purchased equipment and arranged infrastructure and this can be formed with documents. We also plan to plant flowers and different decorative plants in this space with our own resources.

How will initiative provide equal opportunity for men and women?

Of course school is part of our social space, a public institution, which is adjusted to the priorities of the country, so gender equality is one of the main principles for us. The project beneficiaries will include girls and boys, men and women, equally.
