Goals

Problem statement:

The idea of the project is the minor rehabilitation of the district's sports stadium. Currently the stadium is being used by the youth and adults living in the other district as well as the youth living in the 8 residential blocks of the district. Currently 220 - 250 young girls and boys. Over time the basketball shields and cover have been damaged, which makes playing impossible. Unfortunately, when children have no opportunity to play, they have inclinations towards anti-social behavior. Some damages to the cover have been caused exactly by dropping a cigarette end. Implementation of the project will enable us to get the youth more involved in sports activities and promote healthy lifestyle with their activities.

How will your initiative achieve/contribute to this change?

Within the scope of the project it is envisaged to replace the damaged part of the basketball shields and artificial grass cover. After transferring the acquired items the group of the district's youth will ensure the installation of the shields and spreading the cover. As a result, the youth will be able to stay away of the street and choose a healthy lifestyle. Also this project, as well as the social activity itself, will serve as an example for other young people. 2 shields need to be purchased whose total cost is 1320 GEL according to the information obtained in advance, and the artificial grass needs 16 square meters for spreading, and the total cost is 690 GEL. Glue costs 70 GEL. Thus the total budget is 2080 GEL.

What will happen to your initiative and to the purchases?

The stadium is the property of municipality but our community members will clean and take care of it. The same with regulating the lighting system. In the future our initiative group will also get involved in the maintenance of the stadium.

How will initiative provide equal opportunity for men and women?

The stadium will be accessible for girls and boys. Often girls play volleyball or other games, but often it's mixed teams. Therefore, we believe both girls and boys will use it.
