Goals

Problem statement:

Protecting minority rights is a serious problem in Georgia. One of the obligations of our country is to create equal conditions of development for every citizen of the country. Not knowing Georgian is an obstacle for ethnic minorities to fully integrate in the Georgian society and they are discriminated in the sense that they are deprived of the chance to participate more actively in the public life.

I think that this problem should be eradicated in the educational institutions such as nursery school/kindergarten or school. I am a nanny and teacher in a kindergarten, where half of the group consists of Georgian and half are Armenian. The main problem is a lack of a common language, which separates even young children from each other.

Proposed Solution:

To teach Georgian to young children, creative methods are needed: thematic toys, illustrated books, thematic banners, games, amusing videos and programs on different topics. In this way a child will be able to learn a language by means of playing and without any stress. This will also help the children feel valuable members of the society.

To teach them, I plan on teaching using a variety of games, storytelling and colourful sensory materials. My target is the 4 and 5 year old children in my kindergarten. More of these materials are needed for the lessons to continue to be engaging and effective.

Sustainability:

In case the project is funded, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will give me free of charge the books that aren’t in stock and contribute to integration. Find the information on the books on: http://elibrary.emis.ge/ge/authors/index/144

I think that the project is sustainable and the future generations, the nursery school children will learn the state language by means of games/playing, which in the future will help them to be fully integrated in the Georgian society. As for the obtained items, they will stay with the pre-school education institution, where I will carry out this project, so that the future children can also benefit from these items.

Gender balance will be more or less observed because the children in the nursery schools are girls as well as boys.
