Goals

Problem statement:

Our group, "Free screenings in Gori," holds free film screenings in our town about problematic issues. Now we would love to organize a film festival in June to continue our project.

Gori is not rich with cultural events. We believe Free Film Festival will change this and lot of people will be interested. Free Screenings in Gori has already gained a lot of followers; attendance is usually high and people are interested in discussing the film.

Proposed Solution:

We have been holding movie screenings in Gori voluntarily for more than a year. For this, the Culture Center has allowed us to use a space and equipment (e.g. projector).

From experience, screenings are attended by approximately 40 women and men of different ages. We have already held 15 movie screenings and the demand of screenings from the people is high. They make suggestions about screening certain movies.

Now, we want to hold movie screenings outside with our own equipment, and we want to launch a festival. The festival will be more large-scale and diverse than our usual screenings.

The film festival will last for 3 days and will begin a conversation on problematic issues. We have no age restrictions, so everyone is welcome. We believe this event will be a good starting sharing opinions between generations.

A group of 8 volunteers (4 girls, 4 boys) will be involved in organizing the festival: movie amateurs, photographers and artists by profession. Approximately 70 people will attend the festival.

The festival will be on the local television and social media, which will increase the interest.

Sustainability:

After this event we hope our town's society will have more free space to express their ideas. A lot of people do not have opportunity to watch the film on the big screen, and this festival will provide that opportunity. We also hope to promote greater public life in general.

After the festival is over, the movie screenings will be continued in Gori Culture House, one every week throughout the summer.
