Goals

Problem statement:

Projects against hate speech are held regularly in different countries of Europe on a large-scale. Our goal is to carry out this project locally, particularly in the direction of gender balance, racism and LGBT society.

Since Georgia is still a developing country, our eyes are still unused to seeing beyond the norms of traditions and religious dogmas. Gender and ethnicity still causes confusion in the society and is perceived as foreign idea.

People usually follow traditional culture and ethic norms. Our idea allows talk about discrimination, which unites gender as well as racist and homophobic problems and stops any kind of violence as much as possible. Our aim is to make the society see these aspects of discrimination.

The participants of the project will learn how to confront violence and show why violence comes to existence and how it spreads.

Proposed Solution:

We will do a series of lectures to bring students together around the topic, discuss it and involve visual art. The gatherings will take place at Bookstore Ligamus at Ilia State University.

Around 20 participants will be selected and attendance will be free. We will use posters and the Facebook page of Ilia State University, Department of Students Affairs and student emails to spread the word. The meetings will include a lecture, showing of a thematic video and discussions will follow.

The lectures will be recorded and uploaded on Iliauni YouTube page. Following the lecture we will involve the students in producing a common thematic video, and with permission, we want create graffiti in Iliauni yard. In a month we will hold an art competition. The exhibition will be handed over to the Ilia University administration and used in various thematic events.

Sustainability:

A video clip will be made and uploaded. As a result of the acquired knowledge and the developed skills, the participants in the future will be able to plan and carry out educational and encouraging activities on the similar issues on their own, to establish communication with the rest of the society. Lecture courses will be captured on video, which will also be uploaded on YouTube and the research database of Ilia State University.

In order to eradicate any kind of discrimination, equal involvement of women as well as men in social activities is required. For the success of the project, it is important to keep gender balance in order to ensure equal consideration of the interests of both parties.
