Goals
Problem statement:
As we all know, it's extremely hard for the Georgian LGBT+ community to work, live and survive due to prejudice and aggressive discrimination.
I want to give the opportunity to the people (queer and heterosexual - both together) to discuss issues of gender and sexuality make improvisations of the discrimination forms in public spaces and brainstorm solutions.
Proposed Solution:
To help the community, I want to create a Theater of the Oppressed. This aims are to equip the LGBT+ community members with additional creative ideas how to handle discrimination without violence or aggression. We also want to create a safe and friendly environment for the community to have productive discussions.
We will do take the following actions:
1. Plan activities
2. Brainstorm scenarios to act out
3. Advertise on social media.
4. Create an online group of participants – LGBT+ and allies
5. Organise regular meetings.
6. Cast, rehearse, and prepare the performance.
7. Advertise the performance.
8. Perform and report on the performance in the media with a short video.
To help facilitate a positive atmosphere, we would like to fund some basic snacks for participants, as we will likely meet late at night, after work or school. Also, for the motivation that will be great if we have some nice presents for the participants, which we will give them at the end of the project.
For the video, we need a camera and to hire a basic editor.
Sustainability:
The participants (around 6-8 people) are be potential leaders with experience in dealing with discrimination. They will pass on their knowledge to help everyone in the future. Also this photo camera will stay at organization "Movement for Equality" and we will use for future activities, and also we will be able to make some short videos related to queer issues and upload them on social media.
Equal gender opportunity:
We will do our best to have a gender equality (50%-50%) and to have some heterosexuals as a symbol of equality. We are all equal end we queers and heterosexuals should discuss and fight for equality together because each of use despite of our sexual preferences might be minority in some situations.
