Goals
Problem statement:
My name is Imeda Tedorashvili and I have four children. This project is written by the request of my eldest son Iliko, who is 6 years old and in his first year of school.
Since he was two, Iliko liked to play with Legos, constructing different figures on his own. His younger two brothers and sister also have learned to play with Legos and we all love them very much.
At school, Iliko was asked by his teacher to think of some interesting ideas to make their school life more interesting and creative. Iliko thought about the Lego competitions and offered this idea to his classmates. The children liked the idea very much and they want have this competition.
However, the school does not have enough Legos for everyone, and we are in need of several sets to make this competition happen.
As we know, for the Rustavi pupils life is not so exciting and interactive as for the pupils in Tbilisi. Many youth here are closely connected to Tbilisi and commute almost every day for jobs and opportunities, but this reduces the chance of building and developing a trusting and supportive community here.
We want to make the pupils’ lives more exciting and interesting in schools, which will keep their interest in Rustavi and in their studies. Legos develop creativity in children, and the school competitions will help the pupils to show their own abilities and skills. This will also allow children and youth to demonstrate their talents and skills and create spaces for meaningful interaction for children of various backgrounds.
Proposed Solution:
The beneficiaries of our project will be the pupils of primary classes, aged 6 to 10. The Lego competition will be held several times a year, and these competitions will help teachers to make school more joyful and interesting. Children love playing with these toys, and it trains their minds and helps them to become more creative.
Currently, we are interested in creating this competition one school, but we hope to expand to as many schools as possible in Rustavi by inviting them to take part in the competition. Such competitions will help the pupils in communication and the in realization of their own creative abilities and skills.
Rustavi pupils and teachers need such joyful competitions to make the school period more interactive and interesting. It will help the children connect to different social groups, and it will help adults to discover the intellectual and creative part of the society. Teachers and parents will be closely involved in the competitions and the school life will become more joyful and interactive.
We need as many as toy sets as possible, and this will make it easy to hold the competitions at many schools. The toys can be bought at any toys shop in Rustavi or Tbilisi.
Sustainability:
We will make the pupils interested in showing and developing their own creative abilities; we also plan to make exhibitions of photos of the constructions made in the classes at schools.
The competitions will be held at schools, and we have the permission to hold the competitions from the head-masters of the schools. It will help the pupils show their abilities not only to their teachers and classmates, but also to the parents, to the society. The parents will be involved in the competitions and it will help improve communication between children and parents.
Legos are not easy to break. Once we have enough sets to start the competition and involve schools, we should be able to do them for many years.
Equal gender opportunity:
The competition is provides an equal opportunity for boys and girls to participate as the targets are the school students, and in general the students are mixed.
Besides, from my own experience, I thinks that girls are as interested in Legos as boys. So, we expect that boys and girls will be equally involved.
