Goals

Problem statement:

I live in the village Duisi and know well the local problems. I think that renovating the park will solve some of our problems by providing a source of local recreation.

The park opened a year ago with funding by British Embassy. Already, it has proved very popular – so much so that the inventory needs to be expanded. This will continue to ensure the park is a positive community space.

Proposed Solution:

The park is located on the road where two villages connect, so this park is important to the youth of both villages. There is no other place of public leisure in either village. Because of this, the park is very popular, but there isn’t enough equipment.

The park will support the villages of Jokolo and Duisi, of which the population is about 3600 school-aged children and 1000 of kindergarten age or younger.

The initiative group applied to the local municipality for funding the park, but did not receive funding. Instead, a territory was given for it as well as assistance in aligning the ground. The initiative group consists of several persons including Nata Kavtarashvili, Besarion Margoshvili, Aindi Khangoshvili. This group will manage the entire process.

The current park inventory includes a swing and a bench. The kindergarten, the public school and the stadium are near the above mentioned park and so the youth frequently visit.

Approximately 100-150 children gather regularly and there is not enough space for everyone, so have to sit on the ground. Everyone has a great desire and hope that this place will be renovated. Inventory installation, cleaning, painting and protecting the area will be the duty of local initiative group, they will be responsible for these inventories to be protected.

Sustainability:

The main goal of this project is the park to equipped the park with appropriate inventory and solve the problem of entertaining the youth and providing a leisure area. The initiative group will be responsible for arranging, keeping this place clean and safe for years to come.
