Goals

Problem statement:

The young activists of the Association “Toleranti” decided to launch a social enterprise of utility services in Akhaltsikhe, which would employ people with disabilities, women, and attract young qualified specialists to stay in town.

There is a lack of utility services here, which are necessary for people with disabilities, lonely seniors, single mothers and others. An increase in population and urban development, (e.g. gas, internet, etc.) boosted the demand for utility services.

Currently, there are only costly maintenance service providers, whose charges are difficult to pay. At the same time increasing the role and involvement of women in different social fields has brought forth the need of services that would help an employed woman to cope with certain necessities in the household (nanny, caretaker, cleaning, etc.). We believe that by establishing a social enterprise “My Master” under the auspices of the Association “Toleranti” would have two benefits:

1. Eight people will be employed: 2 persons with disabilities (operators), undergraduates of a professional college with specific skills (electrician, plumber, carpenter, IT specialist) and women needing professional development.

2. 25,000 residents of the town will benefit from the services and the vulnerable groups will benefit from preferential services.

Proposed Solution:

The social enterprise will use the space owned by the Association “Toleranti” and its vehicle, thus additional expenses will not be needed for renting the office space. The Association has an accessible infrastructure for people with disabilities, including the lift and other necessities.

The utility service “My Master” will provide services based on the following principle: any resident can call the service-centre on any need, the call will be registered and a master with full equipment will be immediately sent to the destination.

The centre is responsible for the services provided and professional competence. Each service will be recorded with explicit indication of duties and responsibilities.

Sustainability:

8 people will be hired at the social enterprise, including 2 persons with disabilities, who will be paid according to the work performed. The services provided by the social enterprise will not be a one-time activity; it will function on a long-term basis in the town and deliver services according to the needs.
